A spectacular Operama production of Verdi’s ”Aida” has made a triumphal march from the pyramids in Egypt to the Olympic Stadium in Montreal for two performances, on June 16 and 18. The production – with 700 performers, 1,500 costumes, 5,000 props and a procession with camels and horses – was staged on the 100-yard-long field at the stadium. Last year, it was mounted on a stage near the pyramids at Giza in Egypt. The soprano Katia Ricciarelli sang the title role with maestro Giuseppe Raffa, artistic director of Operama – International Opera Festival, conducting.
